CSI investigation kit V-44549

This experiment introduces students to the use of DNA and PCR to simulate how DNA obtained from hair or saliva at a crime scene can be used to identify a criminal. To do this, dyes are used that migrate in the agarose gel as if they were DNA fragments. Students will learn how electrophoresis separates different sizes of DNA fragments and how these fragments form a unique pattern for each person, which is basic for DNA fingerprinting analysis. Students have to identify the subject who has been at the crime scene. The kit contains the material necessary to carry out the practice 4 times with different groups or classes.
Content: 2x50 ml concentrated electrophoresis buffer (to create 2 containers of 500 ml by adding distilled water); 1.75 g agarose; 20 µl micropipette; 6 sample microtubes; 1 50 ml test tube.
